Trainees from local tourism operator, The CaPTA Group, have excelled yet again at the annual National Institute of Training graduation ceremony last week.
Jodie Fountain from Rainforestation won Tourism Trainee of the Year and completed a Cert IV in Tourism (Operations), Eileen Scott from The Rainforest Habitat won the Merit Award Cert III Tourism, and CaPTA Sales Executive Melissa Blackman was runner-up for Business Trainee of the Year and completed a Cert IV in Business (Sales & Marketing).
CaPTA Staff Excellence Manager Susan Benham said the wins were testament to the diverse training programmes in place across the organisation.
“This year, CaPTA had 40 trainees doing formal training to gain further qualifications at a variety of levels, across a wide variety of career paths including wildlife, guiding, retail, sales, accounts, administration, horticulture, and food and beverage,” she said.
“Our trainees cover a variety of age, skill and background, ranging from Tropic Wings Drivers averaging in their 50's, to our teenaged School-based trainees, and including indigenous persons, people from non-English speaking backgrounds through to mature age employees wanting a career change.
“CaPTA firmly believes in supporting our employees to develop further, both professionally and personally, and our trainee programme assists us in this.”
