As well as having a strong and iconic presence in the tourism industry, the CaPTA Group is also dedicated to making a difference in our local community.
We regularly sponsor schools, arts groups, community groups and sports groups and provide prizes for various charity events. We also have a strong presence in local charity events, such as the Mayor’s Christmas Carols.
COUCH
Cairns Organisation United for Cancer Health (COUCH) is a community-based charity committed to improving the health and wellbeing of people in Far North Queensland affected by cancer. Established in 2006 by Charles and Pip Woodward of The CaPTA Group, COUCH was inspired by local resident Liz Plummer and her determined efforts to bring improved cancer care services to Cairns.
Through strong community support, campaigning, and fundraising, the Liz Plummer Cancer Care Centre was opened in 2011—realising Liz’s vision just two years after her passing.
Driven by a continued passion to support those impacted by cancer, Charles and Pip pursued a vision to create a dedicated wellness hub. In 2019, this vision became a reality with the opening of the COUCH Wellness Centre, offering integrated, holistic support services to enhance the quality of life for those affected by cancer. The Centre opened two years after Charles sadly lost his own cancer battle.
Today, COUCH remains a vital advocate for cancer patients and their families in the region, delivering essential wellness services and working towards improved cancer care across Far North Queensland.

This fun and meaningful initiative invites staff and community members to wear their favourite tropical shirts to work every Friday while supporting COUCH and the cancer impacted community of the Far North. By committing to a monthly donation of just $15, you’ll become part of an ongoing effort to give back to our community.
TARC
The Tropical Animal Rehabilitation Centre (TARC) is a non-profit care centre that cares for injured, orphaned, sick or displaced animals. It is on-site at Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas. It was established by the Woodward Family of the CaPTA Group with the support of the Walter and Eileen Leder Foundation.
Operating the care centre comes at a cost and it relies solely on donations. Costs include medications, medical transport, food and specialised veterinary care.

The Woodward Family of the CaPTA Group continue to provide financial support for this facility.
